In the last Beauty Magazine, we looked into the right of “healthy” liquor drinking. Do you like to drink? Everyone knows that an adequate level of drinking can be helpful while excessive drinking can be toxic. Now, let’s move on to how liquor and drinking can affect your skin and how best to take care of your skin after drinking.
1. How Liquor Affects the Skin
Drinking alcoholic beverages makes you feel good and hazy but still you are not far away from being surprised at how red your face has become after a couple of drinks. Some people are immune to this but most of us experiences reddening and hot face after drinks. Drinking expands your blood vessels and tears up the capillaries. Continued excessive drinking can lead to chronic facial blushing so it requires caution.
Once you start drinking, the alcohol gets degraded inside your system. Along the process, your skin gets deteriorated and dry, ending up becoming red and irritated by contact-induced allergies. When a large amount of alcohols gets inside your body, enzymes are secreted to detoxify the alcohol and the whole process requires a lot of water. This means drinking a lot of water while drinking alcohol can be effective otherwise you cannot avoid having rather dry skin the day after you drank much. Keep a cup of water close by while you drink to retain skin moisture.
2. How to Take Care of Your Skin After Drinking
Drinking can increase sebum secretion and androgen generation, which lead to skin troubles. So, your skin requires special care after you drank a lot.
It is extremely bad for your skin if you go to sleep without cleaning and washing your skin after drinking session. It is also crucial for women to remove makeup thoroughly too. Drinking heats up your skin and expands your skin pores, so if you don’t wash your face, the makeup residue as well as other contaminants get into these pores and block them, winding up to generate skin flaws and troubles.
It is best to wash off with water of the similar temperature to your body. Make sure to apply light gel first so that the heat of the face can be let out for a while before applying heavier and thicker moisturizing cream layer.
Your face can be fluffy, dry and swollen after a heavy drinking session the night before, especially worse if you drank liquor a lot with salty snacks. Put the cooling pack on and wash gently off with warm water if the face is excessively swollen. Using a facial mask pack the next morning is another effective method to relieve swelling.
