staying healthy after heavy drinking sessions at yearend parties
It is December now, and you would have a lot of parties going on with your family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues. Naturally, you end up drinking more liquor than usual. We would like to look into ways to stay “sober” and healthy after many drinking sessions at year end.
1. What’s Good with Liquor
There are two types of cholesterol, HDL that prevents artery hardening in the blood and bad LDL that accelerates it. When you drink moderate level of alcohol, it boosts the HDL levels in the blood, preventing heart-related diseases and blood clots. A modest level of drinking before meals facilitates secretion of digestive fluid to boost digestion ability in the stomach. It also clears your head and relieves depression and anxiety
But even the modest level of drinking can be bad for some people. It can be fatal for those suffering from high blood pressure and liver diseases. Drinking is also bad for those taking sleeping pills, anti-depression pills, anti-histamine pills, aspirin and arthritis pills. You should avoid drinking before going to bed to good night’s sleep as this may cause sleep disorders in the long term.
2. Diseases Related to Excessive Drinking
Habit of excessive drinking can cause diseases such as fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer and other symptoms, including gastritis, pancreatitis, oral cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, malnutrition, obesity, and high blood pressure. Psychologically, it can cause sleep disorder, depression, amnesia, forgetfulness, illusion, and dementia. It can arise to social issues such as domestic violence, homelessness, unemployment and DUI.
3. Right Way of Drinking
Now, let’s look into the right way to drink moderately. Empty stomach before drinking can lead to stomach damage and faster absorption of alcohol. As such, it is important to drink liquor with ample healthy food. You should also drink slowly and keep drinking water during the drinking sessions as the water can dilute the alcohol. You should never drink with high-caffeine energy drinks.
