are there endocrine disruptors contained in cosmetic ingredients?

Greetings from Inbello! I am sure that you have often heard that you should carefully look into the ingredients contained in the cosmetics before purchase. But when you actually try to look into those ingredients, it is difficult for many people to discern which are bad and which are okay.
*In the Beauty Magazine via the link below, we look into substances in cosmetics that might be causing cancer.*
In this session, we look into potential cosmetics substances generating endocrine disruptors.

1. Benzophenone -3
Also used as organic UV screening substance, it is also known as oxybenzone. Most countries have limit in mixing ratio for the substance when creating UV sunscreen. The ratio is between 0.5% and 5%. Oxybenzone used to be a controversial substance in terms of safety that may cause skin allergies and hormone disruptions. It is also known as risk factor to cause photoallergy.

However, there are currently an increasing number of reports by cosmetics substances review authorities saying that the oxybenzone is proven safe.

2. 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor
As organic UV sun screening substance, it blocks off UVB. The mixing ratio limit is between 0.5% and 5%. It can penetrate into the skin in a limited way and is clearly proven to disrupt the hormone system in human body. Its concentration levels are regulated in cosmetics from the U.S. and its production is also regulated.

3. Phthalates (DBP, DEHP, BBP)
The substances in the category are prohibited. But it can still be found in minimal amount in the containers and levels under 100ppm are considered safe. Still, it is best to avoid contacting the substance.

4. Paraben
Used most often as preservatives, it is the most-oft used substance in the cosmetics. But, nowadays, many companies launched paraben-free products. That shows that the paraben is a controversial substance. The recommended content level of paraben according to the EU standards is 0.19% for butylene paraben and less than 0.19% for propylparaben.

5. Butyl Hydroxy Anisole

It is used as fragrance and anti- oxidant. It is known to cause hepatorrhagia, cancer, genomic abnormality and allergies.
