What is Argan Oil? What is Jojoba Oil?
How are you taking care of your skin in the winter? Many people start using the facial oil during the winter because the cold dry weather dehydrates the skin. The facial oil creates protective shield on the skin, retaining the skin moisture and improving skin conditions. The favorite oils for the winter seem like either Argan or Jojoba oil. Today, we will look into these facial oils.
1. Argan Oil
The Argan oil is extracted from fruits of Argan trees which grow only in southern part of Morocco. The fruits have long been used as food and cosmetics ingredient and also as natural medicinal herb for skin troubles. Containing more than twice the tocopherol than in olive oil, it is loved by customers all around the world.
Containing high levels of unsaturated fatty acid, the Argan oil creates protective shield on the skin and hydrates the moisture in the derma. As such, it is ideal for complex or sensitive skin types as they lack moisture inside with excessive oiliness outside.
The vitamin E contained in the ingredient prevents skin aging and helps retain skin resilience. As the Argan oil contains high levels of vitamin E, natural preservatives, the oil itself, if contained in concentrate, does not require any artificial preservative.
We need to look closely the color, viscosity and smell to choose the right Argan oil. Good Argan oil is transparent with slightly yellowish gloss and with low viscosity. It is also almost odorless.
2. Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is extracted from jojoba fruits grown in areas of desert climate such as California and northern Mexico. These desert plants have long roots piercing into as deep as 12m underground to look for moisture. Jojoba oil has structure similar to human sebum with lower adverse side effects and can work effectively on skin troubles. By creating protective shield on the skin, the oil retains moisture and works as natural and mild UV sunscreen. Containing Omega-6, Omega-9, fatty acid, vitamins A, D, E and K, the oil prevents skin aging and reduces wrinkles. Use it regularly for massages and it will help remove stretch marks.
There are two types of Jojoba oils: one with transparent color and the other with golden color. The transparent one is purified one that is very watery, almost odorless and no viscosity. The purifying process removes most of the nutrients in the oil. The golden one is non-purified one so it is better to choose the golden one that keeps most of the nutrients.
