1. Formaldehyde
It is a controversial ingredient as a carcinogen in food as well as cosmetics.
Formaldehyde is very toxic to the human body and when people are exposed to formaldehyde, the disease symptoms begin to appear. Depending on the concentration, the effect on the human body may be irritating to the eyes, nose and throat when the concentration is less than 0.1 ppm, and severe asthma attacks may appear for those who have respiratory problems or asthma if the concentration is between 0.25 and 0.5 ppm. At 2 ~ 5ppm, tears will appear and you will feel severe pain. At 10 ~ 20ppm, normal breathing becomes difficult, and symptoms such as coughing, headache and heartbeat are accelerated.
Isn’t really scary? They are carcinogens are tested, but they were only tested in the respiratory system, ther nothing know for the skin or the digestive system. It can be formulated at less than 0.2% and is prohibited to use in aerosol products except mousse. But I do not think it would be bad to avoid it because it is a suspicious ingredient.
2. Isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol, rubbing alcohol)
Body Used for scrubs, hand creams, hair rinses, etc. Ingestion or inhalation can cause headaches and dizziness. It is not good for cancer patients because it is known to lower the immunity.
3. Ammonium laureth sulfate / sodium laureth sulfate
It is mainly used in detergents, toothpaste, hair products, cosmetics, etc. It is the main ingredient of shampoo and foaming detergent. It is known to easily infiltrate the skin to slow down wound healing and cause cataracts, but it can actually stimulate, but it does not penetrate the skin.
Most of it is used for washing products, so if you wash it thoroughly without any residue, you do not have to worry too much.
4. Polyethylene glycol
It is called PEG and is used for surfactants used in cosmetics. It is known that it is a carcinogen which can induce allergies. It is known as a petroleum synthetic raw material, but it is widely used in foods, medicines and cosmetics.
